Before I begin describing my painful memories, please be aware that all the stories in this book are the real events that actually happened to me.

Don't go to the Black Swamp just to see the events described in the book for yourself.

Before I came to the Black Swamp, I had heard about the North Wisewood threatening the area. But I didn't know how bad the situation was until I reached the Northwind Peak Fort and met Captain Damian.

According to Damian, these Wisewoods are now controlled by a kind of worm called Brain-Infesting Maggot. This reminds me of the Disgusting Worms I saw when I was helping a botanist gathering herbs in the Sprites' Forest.

After listening to Damian's presentation, I ventured alone into the Swamp of Decay in the north, delving deep to find those controlled Wisewoods and trying to find a way to help them.

Little did I know, I made a huge mistake that almost turned me into another victim of the Swamp of Decay: it made me realize that it is absolutely not advisable to venture alone into the depths of the Swamp of Decay.

About half an hour into my journey into the Swamp of Decay, I was immediately surrounded by about ten Wisewoods. After encountering the healthy and friendly treefolk in Sprite Forest and Ancient Wood Forest, these Wisewoods looked like a whole group of zombies.

Before I could draw my Musket, one of them bound my Two-Handed and hung me in mid-air. Then, I saw a particularly large and disgusting maggot crawling out of one Wisewood's head, opening its sharp teeth, ready to pierce through my skull and take control of my body.

I am fortunate to be alive and telling you about my horrible memories instead of joining the army of zombies in the Swamp of Decay. Damian, who came after me, heard my cry for help and led a party of soldiers to save me before the maggot could bore its way into my brain.

I can hardly believe that this place was once a paradise of treants before the Sprite King's War. But it seems that this place has become the way it is now after the Sprite King of the Dead arrived here.

The stone stele on the altar is too damaged for me to decipher more of the area's past. It shows that the Senate has failed to protect the local ruins and environment.
