Chapter 1: A Butler's Life

Pleased to meet you. My name is Ard, and I am the head butler for Baron Leister-Manns.

You envy the life of a butler, you say? It's true; I live in a mansion for free, enjoy the same fine caviar as my master, flirt with real-life French maids, and generally get to look dapper all day long. But I confess: sometimes, I'd prefer to be a stay-at-home couch potato.

Lachelle Leister-Manns is my master's eldest daughter.

We are around the same age, so in our youth, we'd often sneak out of the mansion at night to head to the beach and watch the twinkling stars. I miss those innocent days.

We would lay on the soft, powder white sand and count the stars together as waves gently lapped the shore.

"Ard, promise me that you will always be best friends!"

I still remember my young madam's innocent smile as she extended her pinky and hooked it with mine.
