"Weren't you waiting for a letter? This just came for you."

My father gave me the white envelope, and my hands began to shake. I only wanted pink envelopes. I only wanted to hear from her.

I tore open the envelope. Everything went black. My mind swam.

Even now, the thought of that moment makes me want to escape from it all.

How could it be true? I felt the tears slipping from my eyes.

The white envelope contained a letter written by her mother.

She died of the epidemic.

According to her mother, she wrote me from her sickbed. Even when wracked with fever, she murmured about wanting to see me, no matter what.

"Please allow her final wish to come true. Let me give this to you from my daughter," concluded the letter.

I could not stop a torrent of tears.
