On the third morning of Elena's captivity, the Fort Recon Officer took out the wedding dress he'd designed and tried to force Elena to wear it, in preparation for her upcoming wedding ceremony.

Unusually calm, Elena spotted a map of the fort's passageways sitting in the corner of the officer's room, so she agreed to put on the dress, which would afford her a peek at that important map.

When the Recon Officer had to leave to make preparations for the wedding, Elena leapt into action, sneaking the map out under her dress and committing the escape route to memory.

In the evening, Elena took advantage of the hustle and bustle of the wedding preparations, leaving her quarters without being spotted. She snuck into the rum cellar and set a fire there. The sudden outbreak of the fire turned the fortress into a scene of panic, soldiers running everywhere lamenting that the rum was burning.

Elena fled the chaotic scene, but as she dashed over the balcony, she tripped over the bridal gown and lurched forward over the railing, hanging on by a grip that was growing ever weaker. It was at that very moment that Damian emerged from the waterway and saw Elena, hanging on for dear life!

Damian rushed to Elena's aid amidst the choking smoke and pulled her to safety, and together they leapt into the waterway and escaped.

When they were far away from the fortress, the pair found themselves going to the beach where they had first met. At that moment the surging emotions that had been suppressed until now burst forth and they caught each other in a passionate embrace, pressing close for a kiss.

Soon after, with Elena's house gone, the two booked passage on a merchant vessel and sailed off into the horizon. No one knew where they were headed, but everyone knew that wherever they went, they would light up the night with the passion of their love, just like the night they first met.
