The Evening of the First Day

When I received the dead-or-alive warrant for Lance, it'd been three hours since the assassination.

I figured Kaslow's blockade was useless against him; Lance had surely left the city.

While he might be clever enough to use a Sunbird's footprints to cover his trail, he couldn't fool me. I spotted a partially obscured set of footprints moving toward Clama Bridge and knew he'd headed for Scorching Wind Desert.

When I reached Clama Bridge, I saw Lance riding atop a Sunbird. He was disguised as an ordinary traveler, and he didn't see me coming.

I aimed carefully and fired, hitting Lance. However, he didn't fall, and his Sunbird, startled by the explosion, only began to run faster.

I chased after him on my own Sunbird, not realizing that Lance had spread shards of glass across the ground. My Sunbird screeched in pain and fell to the ground, its claws bleeding.
