Chapter 3: An Unwelcome Guest

Throughout all our expeditions for new minerals, we faced no greater danger than at Stan's Quarry.

Upon arrival in that dreaded place, we found ourselves quickly surrounded by Goblins!

The sounds of Tara's terrified screams seemed to entice them further as they rushed out at us from the darkness and we fled for our lives.

I had packed with me that night only a few chisels, a flashlight, and some small cakes.

All the same, we purged ourselves of any items we didn't need as we made our escape.

I will never forget the uncanny sensation of those beady, yellow Goblin eyes at my back as I ran with Tara through the dark.

When we were forced to discard the cakes, our only rations, we watched in astonishment as some of the Goblins changed course.

"Look, they're going after the cakes!" I remember yelling.

At seeing this, we proceeded to rid ourselves of the cakes, one of which I inadvertently threw in the direction of a rather steep cliff. I watched in amazement as several Goblins rushed after it, tumbled over one another, then fell headlong as one into the valley below.
