Chapter 1: Radiant Minerals

This world is full of surprises.

I've not forgotten the day I went to Steam Mine Mountain and first held that piece of strange, luminous mineral Liana had handed me.

I conducted countless experiments upon it in hopes of unlocking its secrets, but they all proved useless.

Hoping she could tell me more about the mineral, I paid Liana another visit. That's when I met Tara.

Though only a girl at the time, she agreed to lead me to Nightmare Quarry to find new minerals. We nearly met our ends dodging the Goblins that seemed to appear from out of nowhere.

When we finally reached the quarry we found it had become nothing more than a barren desert.

Bits of tattered Goblin clothing lay scattered about with not a living thing in sight. We took a good, long look around but still found nothing.

Disappointed, I remember sitting on the ground and just staring emptily into the valley.

Suddenly I heard Tara call out and turned to see her pointing toward a moutain where, at its ridge, one could just barely make out a blue-green light.

Paying little heed to risk, we used a rope to descend further downward and closer to it. Although the amount we discovered was small, the mineral turned out to be extraordinarily precious.
