"I have given the authority of command to young Colonel Alba, and we of the Senate will do our best to assist her. Alba has the same qualities as her older sister. I believe she can lead everyone to victory against the Beastmen and save Ilya."

"Punish? If that's what you're into... Me, I'm more of a carrot kind of guy. The stick is not for me."

Undeterred by his mild rebuke, you go on to say that in an emergency like this, the malcontents should be sent to the gallows as traitors.

"I see, I see... but the Senate does not have the power to enforce martial law like that. You'll have to talk to the White Flame Knight! He can sort them all out, I assure you."

Merlin looks at you meaningfully.

"It's Cahan, Fuleyla and Alez: they're the ones pulling all the strings around here. Go talk to them instead."

"Uh-huh... and? They gave you wildly different opinions, didn't they? I can tell from your expression! Heh heh."

You tell Merlin about the knights' differing views.

"Yeah well, knights aren't always chivalrous do-gooders, you know. In fact, they can be rather uncouth at times. Especially the men, who like to chop heads and harass wenches when nobody's looking! I think it's probably best to leave things the way they are for now."
