Obsidian Ridge Mayor Faynichen

"What? Doesn't the Praetorian Guard have anything better to do? All they do is ask for free food and drink. They are driving Obsidian Ridge out of business! It's their fault the quarry business is on the rocks!" Faynichen grumbled.

"We don't care who you are or how great you think you are. We just want to live in peace. Please leave our town!"

"Hmph, what do you want? Better not have anything to do with the Guard." Faynichen threw you a disgusted look.

"Does Luluza really think smacking around a few jelly beasts will earn our favor?"

"I guess it helps to some extent. Thanks," he said begrudgingly.

"You again? Are you familiar with the Guard? I've got a friend in the Guard... a captain, I think? It's not important. Just take this order to him. Luluza has always been like this. Nothing perks him up like collecting money." Faynichen shrugged.

"You think the townsfolk misunderstand you? You should talk to Morubal and Okin. Maybe I'm wrong." Faynichen blushed, embarrassed.

"You are just in time. I hear that another group of Stolak has gathered near the Black Fire Temple. Go check them out for me."

"I only ask that the temple and Darkblaze stay safe."

"Darkblaze asked you to go to Stolak Island?" Faynichen raised an eyebrow in doubt.

"I told him not to worry about it! What am I supposed to tell Luluza if anything happens to him?" Faynichen grunted.

"Blast those Stolak scum. Guess I wasn't tough enough to scare them away!"

"I didn't think you could return from the island on your own. You must be quite a fighter. Sure, the Guard can pass through here, but you must do me a few favors."

"The Guard's passage is negotiable. I just need one small favor. It should be easy for you!"

"There is a hot spring to the north. It's a valuable place, but many monsters dwell there. If you can help me get my hands on that land, I'll let the guard stay here for few nights." Faynichen smiled cunningly.

"I heard you were asking about the Miracle Maiden. If you help me, I'll tell you what I know about her."

"Go find Darkblaze after getting rid of the monsters surrounding the hot springs. He knows more about the Miracle Maiden than I do."

"I've told you everything I know. Don't forget your promise!" Faynichen reminded you, shaking a bony finger in your face.

"I know you could handle this. Well done!"

"The Praetorian Guard? Don't worry, I'm a man of my word. I'll let them stay here a few nights."

"If I can develop those hot springs, I'll be rolling in dough!" Faynichen muttered, greed flashing through his eyes.

"Darkblaze told you about the Miracle Maiden, right? So we're even. Of course, you're always welcome to do more dirty work for me."

"Ah, just in time! I need your help dealing with one specific, particularly nasty monster who lurks near the hot springs."

"It will show up if you take this to the depths of the springs. When it appears, show no mercy."

"Don't forget to take something from it and bring that item to Makka, the manager at Rin's Hot Spring. Tell him I asked you to drive the beast away," Faynichen emphasized.

"Don't go yet. Come help us collect. I've sacrificed so much for you; you should be chomping at the bit to repay me!" Faynichen seemed annoyed.

"We are running low on cores. This will affect the purity of refined minerals. Help collect more."

"The Black Fire Beast tends to hoard them. This should be an easy task for a Sprite Messenger, right?"

"Hurry! Without those cores, I won't be able to make the delivery deadline!"

"Go southeast once you leave the town, and you will find a gaggle of Black Fire Beasts. Well, stop dragging your heels and get going!" Faynichen snarled.

"You returned! I know I could count on Sprite Messengers. You seem to be the only ones capable of getting those cores."

"I'll be honest with you. Someone gave me money and told me to ignore any person, event, or object related to the Praetorian Guard. They also promised to pay me for any losses. Hey, why should I look a gift horse in the mouth?"

"However, if you disobey him, he can order the gateway to Deepfathom to close." Faynichen shuddered a bit.

"How could I say no?"
