October 14 - Rain

I've eaten only crab meat for 4 days. Is this some kind of survival challenge?

Though the crab meat tasted delicious at first, I am now pretty darned sick of it.

(That's right! This was Marcus's island! You could ask him to elaborate on the diary.)

Salt is one of my favorite seasonings. Some ingredients must be prepared simply. A little salt can really bring out the flavor in something as delicate as crab meat or as hearty as ox liver.

Salt can also be mixed with other seasonings.

You came upon the coral reef that Marcus mentioned. It was covered with rock salt that glittered in the sunlight.

You tried a dash of it.

It was amazing! Just the right amount of saltiness, plus a certain tang of sweetness. It was nothing like the salt you used at home.

Nature's bounty was truly amazing, and you looked forward to cooking with the salt.
