"To be honest... the machine is already done... but there is a problem now and it won't start." Jiladas shakes his head in embarrassment.

"Every time the time machine is started it needs a ton of steam to power it. However, right now the machine has some problems that need to be worked out. I have no time to do it all..." Jiladas looks very troubled.

"As it happens you look like you have time! Here is a Steam Collector. Can I ask you to go to Steam Mine Mountain to collect some steam?" Jiladas takes out a special instrument. It looks like this is the Steam Collector.

"This needs to be adjusted to the side a little... Yes... That should work..." Jiladas looks like he has entered his own world again.

You pat Jiladas's shoulder again.

"Whoa!" Jiladas jumps up with a start. "It's you again! Whew... next time can you make some noise? It's not good to keep scaring an old man!" Jiladas pats his chest and catches his breath.

You give the steam-filled Steam Collector to Jiladas.

"Great! So much steam. This will definitely be enough to start the time machine!" Jiladas says with excitement as he takes the Steam Collector.

"Now the time machine is ready to be started. As a way of thanking you for collecting so much steam, how would you like to go with me on a romantic journey through time? Perhaps we'll be able to see what happens in the future." Jiladas asks you with a smile from ear to ear.

"Sit! Sit! It's perfectly safe..." Jiladas doesn't care about your opinion, he just pulls you into the time machine and buckles your seat belt.

"This journey will go beyond anything you can imagine..." Jiladas points out.

"Although you now possess enough of it to operate the time machine, an additional problem remains..."

"The machine alone is not enough to transport you to the Alternate Dimension. To do so wlll require something more: magic energy,"

Jiladas says, his tone serious.

"This energy can only be obtained from Merlin of the Ilya Senate."

"Go there now and request a Mana Ball from him."

"I am confident he will lend us his help, since it is for the good of Saphael."

"As I said before, I cannot help but feel that something truly sinister is looming..."

he says worriedly.

"See Merlin at the Ilya Senate to request a Mana Ball."

"Ah! You have the Mana Ball!"

Jiladas exclaims.

"Did you have any trouble getting it from Merlin?"

"Marvelous work! You have all you need to reach the Alternate Dimension. Come! There is no time to waste!"

"It is now up to you to uncover the nature of this evil energy,"

he says.

"Sprite Messenger! Are you prepared to enter the Alternate Dimension?"

"I have every confidence you will succeed in uncovering its significance."

"Once you have arrived, find Guard Leader Pippen. He will help you determine the next course of action,"

Jiladas instructs.

"Sprite Messenger! Can you hear me?"

You are suddenly hit with an overwhelming dizziness as a familiar voice echoes in your ears.

"Perhaps you remember me? I am Jiladas of Jale, the Lightspeed Scientist. I am speaking to you now via a special communication device of my own invention."

"Not long ago, while carrying out some routine mechanical maintenance, I discovered what appeared to be an alternate dimension. After conducting extensive research, I learned that it had been created by a malevolent force!"

Jiladas says, his tone growing increasingly agitated.

"To my knowledge, only the Sprite King Carso possesses the power to manipulate space-time and forge alternate dimensions. This may well be his doing..."

"Sprite Messenger! I am afraid the situation requires urgent attention. You are the only person upon whom I can rely! I implore you to travel to the Alternate Dimension and uncover its dark purpose!"

"That we know so little about it is most unsettling."

"Let us move on to the subject of interdimensional travel! Traversing alternate dimensions requires vast amounts of personal energy. I am afraid that, in your current state, you would be unable to withstand the usual damage incurred by such a journey."

"You must go first to the Altar of Sands and draw upon the Sprite King's strength. That should afford you a measure of protection."

"The amount of evil energy I sensed emanating from this mysterious dimension has planted within me a feeling of dread I simply cannot shake,"

Jiladas says, a shudder detectable in his voice.

"You will need to use the time machine I invented in order to reach it."

"I leave this in your hands. I only hope my fears will not be realized..."

"Hurry now to the Altar of Sands on Steam Mine Mountain and appeal to the Sprite King for the use of his strength."

"Have you acquired some of the Sprite King's energy? Excellent! The time machine will be ready momentarily!"

he exclaims, sounding somewhat hopeful.

"All we must do now is reboot the time machine's key energy module."

"Quantum mechanics... the speed of light... using this mode of reasoning, you can stably travel through time..." Jiladas has his back to you. It seems he is holding a design drawing in his hand and murmuring something. It seems he hasn't even noticed your presence.

You pat Jiladas's shoulder.

"Whoa! Who are you?" Jiladas is clearly startled by this move and turns to face you with frightened eyes.

After Jiladas regains his composure, you ask him if he knows anything about time machines.

"Of course I do! I am the one who designed that machine!" Jiladas pat his chest proudly.

"It is done through various forms of quantum computing... to expand a region of spacetime. At the same time you can use the speed of light to break through this region to travel between different times." Jiladas rattles on about his theory of time travel.

"Sigh, but now I've run into some trouble..." Jiladas says dejectedly.
