Almost immediately a blinding light bursts forth from the device, thoroughly startling the Demolitionists nearby.

You scan the tunnel and realize nothing has changed.

Perplexed, you head back to the laboratory to consult Jessie.

"This shouldn't take but a minute!"

Jessie's Mecha Mount has barely come to a halt before she has leapt down to busy herself with the instrument.

Her hands move so swiftly you can scarcely follow what she is doing. After a moment the machine emits a loud sound.

"Ha! That should do it!" Jessie says, wiping her brow with the back of her hand.

"The instrument should work as intended now. Impressive work, if I may say so!"

"I took the liberty of configuring the instrument for use on the other passage, as well. You may use it as you wish."

(Jessie hands you a hastily-scrawled piece of paper. A quick glance reveals it to be an operating manual.)

"The rest is up to you! Good luck, Sprite Messenger!"

You do not have a chance to respond before Jessie has hopped back onto her Mecha Mount and disappeared from sight. You assume that she, always true to form, is eager to update her records regarding the device.
