"Sigh... the bugs are causing a lot of mayhem around here, and it's only getting worse. Not only are they physically assaulting people, they're also spreading a terrifying plague," Shawn says with serious consternation.

"I need to develop a vaccine to combat the outbreak as soon as possible. If the folks over at the Research Institute are infected, we'll all be in real trouble.

"%c%, here's what I need you to do--infiltrate the Red Plague Nest and collect several specimens from the remaining Plague and Corrupt Bug Nests. These specimens will allow me to develop a serum that can hopefully stop this bug plague in its tracks."

"Got any specimens yet?" Shawn is anxious to get on with it.

"Please hurry! It's impossible to develop a serum without the proper specimens."

"Phew, you're back at last! With all of these fine specimens at hand, I believe I have enough to produce an effective serum against the bug plague," Shawn says with a mix of scientific curiosity and concern for his fellow man.

"I shouldn't need too much time--I'll get to work on the first batch straight away!"

"%n%, your arrival is impeccably timed, as always! I've discovered a method of producing a good amount of serum from the specimens you brought back," Shawn says excitedly.

"Here it is--several vials of plague-inhibiting serum. It's a recipe of my own design, I might add. Very potent. Please distribute these to the infected so we can... well, so we can see what happens.

"One vial equals one dose, and there are one, two, three vials of life-saving serum here. Three vials... hm. Best give them to to Saul, Mimi, and Marvin. They're always up for new experiments!"

"And... how did it go? Did they drink the serum? The whole vial, yes?" Shawn drills you with a series of rapid-fire questions.

"So, tell me already--was it effective or not? I've been on tenterhooks waiting to see the results!"

"Oh, good. Very good, indeed. Fantastic! I was actually a bit concerned it might not work... or worse, that there might be unintended side effects. Now, don't misunderstand--this is not a cure-all drug. It won't make you immune to the plague, but it alleviates the worst symptoms and allows the body to take care of the rest naturally," Shawn explains, now fully in lecture mode.

"...hey, are you even paying attention? Anyway, the bottom line is that people don't have to suffer any longer."

"...and so it stands to reason, based on the positive reactions of every patient so far, that the serum successfully shields the human immune system from the rapid breakdown normally observed in untreated patients." Having finished his monologue, Shawn looks at you expectantly.

"What I'm saying is--the serum works for now, but if the bug plague undergoes a mutation, then it might stop working. It's not a long-term solution. The most basic method is to Enhancement everyone's stamina and immunity in order to prevent the plague from spreading any further."

"I hear that the soldiers in Karzak's Barracks rarely suffer from the effects of the plague, even though they must all be infected by now. They clearly have some way of building immunity--%n%, this is where you come into play. Bring back some army rations from Karzak's Barracks for Miranda to look at."

"Naturally, I think that Miranda's plan is a good one, but pesticides are tricky business... Who's to say it won't be harmful in the long run?" Shawn rightfully asks.

"Honestly, I think I have an obligation to put a halt to Miranda's plan for the time being. She can make a pesticide if she likes, but we need to give it some serious thought before actually using it!"

"%n%, please come with me to see Miranda. We need to stop her from spraying the fields with pesticide."

"It's just not safe," Shawn says anxiously.

"It's not something you should toy around with. If we're not careful, everyone will suffer."

"%n%, you are a brave soul! Thank you! Without you, this bug plague would have gotten completely out of hand," Shawn says gratefully.

"Now that we've neutralized the immediate threat of contagion, we have more time to find a proper cure."
