"Strength potions can obviously inbue people with superhuman strength, but if you use them too much, side effects can occur."

"You will become strong in some parts but not other parts; you might have massive biceps but teeny-weeny chicken legs. You might also grow unwanted hair. Don't take them too often!"

"Can you bring me some more hair? I'll reward you handsomely. This strength potion's flying off the shelves!"

"Though strength potions can make people temporarily strong, real power comes from tireless training.

"Soldiers here all believe that magic necklaces made from the claws of Swift Dragons can bring success and luck."

"I saw an opportunity there and leapt on it-and now my Swift Dragons claw necklaces sell better than those rubber band bracelets shaped like animals."

"You can get claws from any Swift Dragons; bring me some so I can make more necklaces."

"Mental dependence is often very useful."

"The magic necklaces made from Swift Dragon Flower Claws might be very effective."

"Thank you for bringing me these Claws, but this is only enough for one or two necklaces."

"Please collect more materials."

"You asked if the necklaces are effective-well, you'll have to buy one yourself and find out." Waer laughed mysteriously.

"I wonder what the messenger's up to?"

"I have yet to receive this month's issue of Magic Monthly Magazine. Sure wish it'd get here soon. I haven't gotten my US Weekly lately, either," Waer commented. He seemed rather bored.

There have been a lot of issues between Ilya and the Belcar Plateau; perhaps that caused the delay. Or maybe the messenger's in trouble! Waer pointed to a very small blood stain on the magazine. He seemed eager for some sort of exciting adventure.

"Don't be too hard on yourself. Bandits run rampant in that area."

"I'm actually surprised you came all the way here to bring me this magazine. I must repay you."

"Without my magazine, I got bored and practiced processing magic equipment to pass the time."

"To show my appreciation, why don't you bring me a pair of Five-Hue Crystal Boots? I'll help you process them."

This month's issue is really interesting, Waer said, rubbing his hands together with excitement.

"I've practiced processing this piece of equipment many times now. The results should be excellent."

"Go on, take them!" Waer handed you the processed boots.

"What's baffling is that I lost the job.
I feel like I stood someone up."

Waer scratches his head fretfully, like he's very annoyed.

"There are so many strange people around this year..."

"In short... 'You're too slow! The Highland Lord is doing well.
Catch up when you finish this letter!'"

Waer says this imitating Charlotte's voice.
It's pretty funny, but you still can't shake the feeling you were stood up.

"Sigh... It is what it is. Here's the letter she wanted to give you.
I don't know why I can't read it and why she's making me tell someone I've only just met that she stood you up..."


You wave your hand at the inexplicably depressed Waer to show that it doesn't matter.
Then you open the letter to see what exactly is written in it.

"What can I do for you? Is that what you thought I'd ask?"

Waer looks a bit haggard.

"Hurry and give me the samples! The sooner you suffer the sooner you escape it.
If I would have known, I never would have spoken with that girl..."

Behind Waer, you see a pile of plants and furs from some unknown place.
It looks like they are the samples waiting to be analyzed.

"Unfortunately, although the samples you brought me show signs of some abnormalities, I have yet to find one with definitive proof."



Waer has a pained expression on his face.

"Put the stuff over there! I have... no that's not true. Charlotte has more to say to you."

"Charlotte wanted me to tell you: 'I'll go to the Highland Altar!
You go and have a look around!'."

After Waer says this while imitating Charlotte, he scratches his head.
It seems like he's a bit frustrated with Charlotte's unorthodox style.

"Not long ago we received word that the Elsaland might lead their forces south. That's kept everyone pretty busy.
If you want to find some real answers, you may need to enlist some help."


"Recently, soldiers have spotted a giant Sprite out in the wilderness.
It just so happens that area is also a gathering spot for savage apes.
If you clear out the monsters there, you could kill two birds... well... monsters with one stone, right? Seek out William when you're done!
There is no guarantee that he will help you, though."

"What did you find out in the end?"

Waer casually questions you before turning his attention back to his dosage
experiment. He appears to be blending something.

"I hope his tone didn't offend you,
everyone is a little keyed up, things being as tense as they are. He's not his usual self at the moment."

"I have carefully analyzed the samples that Charlotte gave to me earlier,
and it appears that something similar has happened to the animals on the plateau.
Things are quiet at the moment, but I'll be sure to keep an eye out for any change."

"I'm sure you're accustomed to the way these guys do things...
I've tried to explain that you've gone to a great deal of trouble to gather this intelligence,
but she seems to have come to the conclusion that it's important
to be on good terms with the locals."

"So she'd like you to deal with some of the monsters on the road,
and then do a favor for the locals. The details are all in this letter.
