Fugitive Dingy Larry

"The Ship's Cook has been on the ship for more than ten years. He started out as a lowly steward and eventually became the cook. Nobody loves food as much as he does."

"I learnt the dish "Seaman Special" from him as well. If you can find me the three ingredients from the ship's Food Box I will cook it for you."

"And destroy all of the food on the ship while you are at it! They will be easier to defeat if hungry."

"Excellent, all of the food has been destroyed and the Ship's Cook has been defeated as well." Dingy Larry says approvingly.

"Next, we need to destroy the ship's power source. The engine room is upstairs. Come up and find me when you are ready."

You can tell from Dingy Larry's shifty eyes that he is planning something.

"Are you ready? We will now go to the engine room in the upper deck and destroy the power shaft."

"There is ladder to the upper deck near the main mast. You go that way! I will take another route and meet you in the upper deck."

"Watch out for the Chief Engineer. Nothing escapes his eye." Dingy Larry turns around and reminds you.

"The Chief Engineer was recruited from another pirate ship. He is supposedly a master at making machines smaller. I don't know whether that is true or not. The current captain promoted him to Chief Engineer because of this special skill."

"The power shaft is maintained using the Tool Boxes and parts. So, to damage the power shaft, just destroy all of the Tool Boxes."

"Don't let him catch you destroying the tools though. He has a weapon that even the captain is afraid of. If you do run into him, take him down before he notices you!"

"You met the Chief Engineer? And defeated him?" Dingy Larry looks at you in disbelief.

"I thought we could get away with damaging the power shaft but you managed to defeat the Chief Engineer as well. Very impressive!"

"With the power shaft broken, let's go to the bow and destroy the Steering Device as well!"

"Keep going upwards. The pilot house is at the bow. There is a Steering Device inside that controls the ship. Destroy it and the ship will lie dead in the water!"

"The pilot house is guarded by the First Mate, the second strongest pirate on the ship. A fight will be unavoidable, so be prepared."

"Charge in when you are ready!" says Dingy Larry, looking towards the bow.

"You want to know how good the First Mate is? To be honest with you, I don't know. All I know is that he has been with the captain a long time. They apparently grew up together."

"He has been challenged before but the challenger didn't even last three minutes. Nobody has really given him a run for his money yet. So, give it your best shot."

"Don't take too much time breaking the Steering Device. If the First Mate realizes your intentions, he will summon reinforcements and we'll be good as dead." says Dingy Larry carefully.

"You destroyed the Steering Device? Excellent!" Dingy Larry becomes excited.

"Now, all we need to do is take out the Captain. Kill him and this ship is history and I won't have to keep running any more."

Dingy Larry rubs his hands together with glee and his eyes gleam with the prospect of victory.

"The Captain's Quarters is at the stern of the ship. The person leading the hunt for me is inside. Defeat him and I will tell you where the treasure of the Pirate King is hidden. Dingy Larry points to the back of the ship.

(You can't help but ask him if the treasure is real...)

"Oh very well! Since you want to know where the treasure so much, I'll tell you. It's actually on this ship. I don't remember where it's hidden though. I've been searching high and low along the way but found nothing. That leaves only the stern."

"Since I told you where the treasure you should defeat the Captain for me! That's the deal, right? " Dingy Larry looks at you steadily.

"The Captain is the boss of the Crying Sailor so he is of course the strongest pirate. At least on this ship anyway."

"The treasure is just up ahead. Be careful. Remember, if you can defeat him, all of the treasure is yours."

"By the way, when I was still a pirate, there was a story going around about how this ship was attacked by a giant sea monster but came home unscathed."

"It's just a rumor and since everyone who heard about it will end up cursed, nobody mentions it any more. I just though I should mention it to you just in case." Dingy Larry shrugs.

"By Bahado's breath, what the 'ell was that roar?! Was it the gurgling o' the deep sea monster?" Dingy Larry asked nervously.

(You describe how you defeated the Deep Sea Monster...)

"What... How is that possible? Who sent you? The Deep Sea Monster is every sailor's nightmare and you managed to give it a thrashin'! You're really somethin' else.

Dingy Larry swallowed then asked: "So, did you see the treasure? Is there stacks of gold piled up inside?"

(You opened the palms of your hands to show that you hadn't found anything.)

"What?! Is the legendary treasure just a legend then? Was it just the Captain's joke?"

Dingy Larry seemed lost in thought for a moment, then began to laugh, low at first, then swelling into a deep chuckle."Ah-hahaha, I get it now, Ardenis ye old sea dog! Y'see, his creed was preying on rich merchants and doling out his profits to the less-fortunate in life. Why would he keep a hoard of gold and jewels for himself? I guess the so-called treasure was just a farce after all!"

"I'm sorry, my friend. Still, take these as a show of my appreciation! If you want to leave this place, I can help you. The Black Bone Pirates aren't all destroyed, though, so it looks like I'll be keepin' up my life in hiding." Dingy Larry apologized to you.
