"Benson asked you to come here?"

"I love my brother, but he can be such a nag sometimes!"

"So, you interested in some hard work? Of course you are!"

"Lost Highlands has an exotic atmosphere. I was attracted to the unique culture and decided to stay."

"I love unearthing intricate antiques here."

"I don't always drink wine, but when I do, I drink Bold Wilderness Wine," Bend purred, pulling out a wine bottle.

"What?! It's empty? How am I supposed to be interesting without wine?"

"Do me a favor and kill some Mountain Bears and Male Highland Elk. Give me their gall and antlers, and I'll make more of my wine! What, isn't all wine made from bile and antler grindings?"

"You need the bile of Mountain Bears and the antlers of Male Highland Elk to make proper Bold Wilderness Wine."

"What? What was that? Can't hear you. I said I need bear gall and elk antlers!" Bend shouted in your ear.

You gave the bear bile and deer antlers to Bend.

"Excellent! Nice and fresh... and bold!" Bend put the bile and antlers to his nose and inhaled deeply. "Hoo-ee! Smells like a County Fair port-a-potty."

You turned a bit green as you considered what Bend planned to do with the animal parts.

"Can you help? We need someone bold!" Bend seemed to really like the word "bold."

"Great Mountain Bears in the mountains near Cactus Forest make trouble for Huyi Village. They're destroying the town."

"Someone has to do something, but I always keep a low profile. If I go out, I'll be mobbed by people asking for autographs, and my signing hand is a bit sore. I'll go ahead and let you get your fifteen minutes of fame instead."

"Boldly go where no one has gone before and kill all the beasts!"

"Kill! Kill! Kill!"

"Be bold; kill them all!"

Bend karate chopped the air and made some strange noises. It was as though he thought the beasts were right in front of him. He took another swig of wine.

"Very good! I'm never wrong about people. Bold people are bold in battle. Nice work."

Bend patted you on the back. You looked into his eyes and saw, for a moment, something deeper in them. You wondered if perhaps you had underestimated this "bold" man. Perhaps a complex soul hid behind his boorish appearance.

And then drunken Bend passed out and began to snore.

When you poked Bend, he quickly awoke and jumped to his feet. "Do you know Kumahachi? He's my best friend. I'll introduce you.

You were in awe of the fact that Bend didn't seem the least bit hungover. Maybe he was just testing you all along!

"Kumahachi is the chief of Huyi Village. He's looking for help. Please go see him!" Bend tried to swallow a hiccup.

"The wind spirits are running wild again, causing strong winds to uproot and destroy crops everywhere they go."

"When this happens, we collect flame stones from Blazing Spirits to make bombs to combat the wind spirits."

"We don't have enough. Please bring me some Hundred-Flame Fire Stones! You can find them in Blazing Spirits."

"Blazing Spirits live near Phoenix Tower in the west. Good luck!"

"Please give me the flame stones from Blazing Spirits as soon as possible. We have to process them before they are useable."

"The wind spirits on Mount Daigo aren't easy targets!"

"We can't make any mistakes. Oh, and did I mention that I need you to bring me flame stones?"

You gave the flame stones to Bend. He scraped one lightly against a stone wall, creating a spark that lit the entire area with a sparkling, rainbow-colored light.

"Yes, this is it! Thank you for collecting these for Huyi Village."

"The largest threat to Huyi Village is not the Petit Wind Spirits, but their leader, King of Sky. That dude is huge!"

"He lives atop Mount Daigo."

"If we ever hope to have peace, we must eliminate him."

"I asked my assistant Gin to send machine parts from Saya Stone Engravings, but he hasn't come back yet, and I fear something may have happened."

Bend listened as you described the scorpions that overran the survey site.

"Oof. Well, that's not good."

Bend took the parts and assembled them quickly.

"I'll take care of the issues with the wind spirits first, and then I'll worry about those stupid scorpions." Bend fit the parts together.

"There's a bird's nest on top of Mount Daigo in the southwest. The King of Sky lives there. You've got to climb up and kill it."

"I made a robot with the parts you brought me. When you're fighting atop the mountain, summon it if you need help. Pretty cool, right?"

"After you kill the bird, please destroy all its eggs, too! The future of Huyi Village depends on you!"

"If you succeed, please be sure to tell Chief Kumahachi."

"Lost Highlands is an amazing magical energy source, which is why I've stayed here to study it."

"Fire Spirit Essence fascinates me."

"We can only get this particular kind of Fire Spirit Essence from fire spirits around Phoenix Tower, but it won't be easy to obtain."
