Item : Book: Miraculous Flower

How long has it been since my heart had been stirred in such a way?

I commissioned a small publisher to print my works. The letter came from a young woman. We exchanged countless letters; hers always came in pale pink envelopes that smelled of jasmine.

We talked about everything. We discussed the books I read and, sometimes, my illness. She always wrote thoughtful replies. She sparkled with energy and life.

She said that she wanted to become an adventurer, and reading my stories made her all the more determined to work hard at her training.

When terrible insects appeared in the streets, she became determined to fight them. I told her that she was acting crazy, as the insects spread horrible diseases and were quite dangerous.

"If I can get rid of those nasty insects, you will get better," she wrote.

"If I can drive away your illness, can I meet with you?"

You are just too dazzling.

To me, you shine so brightly that I can't help but deeply envy you,
to the point where it even... transforms into feelings of jealousy.

All I can do is gaze out the window,
at you, sparkling brightly outside.

--Meeting you? …That's too unrealistic.

Our worlds are so different.
It's as if I'm staring at the vast world outside the window, and before I knew it,
I could no longer look directly at you.

Even the feelings you've hidden behind the pale pink letter paper,
I no longer wish to ponder...
