I realized too late that Minnie was the most important person in my life.

I was once the most famous paladin of the North. My career consumed me, and I never made time for her.

And then one day, I saw another man marry her, kiss her, place a diamond on her lithe finger. I was seized with regret and, yes, jealousy. She would never be mine.

A few days later, the Blacknest Werewolves attacked the fortress Elsaland. I no longer cared about my life and jumped down from the city wall into the pack of Blacknest Werewolves.

After a day, the Blacknest Werewolves retreated.

Though I was badly injured, the people of Elsaland brought me back inside their gates and praised me as a hero.

They called me the "mad paladin." Only I knew that my actions were not brave at all. I had disgraced the title of "paladin." I only wished to kill those werewolves until my pain faded, or until they killed me.
