"He headed southwest direction. They say millions of spiders make their homes there, so I bet he hasn't gone very far."

"I really should have known better. I had no idea Paine was a traitor."

"No wonder he didn't drink water this morning," Bartley muttered angrily.

"He drugged the water, the scoundrel."

You gave the items back to Bartley.

"Our things! Thank you for your help. But you mean to say that Paine died?" Bartley examined his belongings, finding a dark blood stain on one them.

"I mean, I suppose he got what he deserved, but I try not to revel in anyone's misfortune."
