You yell at the top of your lungs to get Noll's attention as he stares off into space.

"Oh, it's you."

"Look what I discovered!"

"It's amazing! Look all around you. Can you feel the immense power flowing through this place?"

"It seem like the time-space magic constructed this place out of a single plane. In the process, it split into two dimensions."

"It must be why the Northern Wastes and the Southern Tundra are polar opposites."

"Oh, come look at this. The seasons appear to be static, unlike most worlds. This definitely requires further research."

(Noll briefly glances at you, then turns back to his research.)

"Oh, that's right. I need your help with something."

"Have you seen the Chrono Crystal Spiders over there?"

"The crystals they carry contain time-space magic. Can you collect some crystal shards for me?"

"I don't know much about those crystals, but I need to know more. Research must be done. Do you hear me? I NEED TO RESEARCH THEM!"

"Did you bring me the crystals?"

You give the crystals to Noll.

"Aha! Yes! Look at how they shine!"

"They must be interacting with this area!"

(As he continues to talk, Noll becomes engrossed in his research and ignores you.)

"I just made the most magnificent discovery! Time is not quite frozen enough though, I'm still missing some materials."

"Can you head northeast and get some more Dimensional Crystals from those spiders?"

"Just bring back a few more and I should have enough."

"Huh? You're back already?" Noll turns and looks at you.

"Let me tell you about my latest discovery."

"Do you know the Drifter? The guy who wears the strange Dimensional Crystal on a necklace?"

"The Drifter's Dimensional Crystal seems to be the same as the ones you brought me."

"No. It's not enough. It's still not enough. I'm going to need stronger crystals."

"Something important is still missing..."

(Noll looks at you.)

"I have something important for you. It's critical to our research."

"There's someone named Draya that has a crystal in the northeast. He carries a Radiant Crystal at all times. Can you help me get it from him?"

(Noll gives you a Runestone.)

"I carved this Runestone myself. Use it to lure Draya out of hiding."

"I'll leave the rest to you."

"That must be the last step!"

"Could Zindel really have the key?"

"If that's the case, should we try to dissect Zindel?"

"Yes, that's the only way!"

(Noll gazes at the crystal in your hand. He gets so excited he accidentally shoves you.)

"Look at it! I'm more confident in my predictions than ever!"

"According to my research, these Time Crystals were created right here."

"The Drifters' ancestors must have used these crystals to control time."

"Apparently, the tear in the time-space continuum happened during a recent battle."

"If that's the case, then the mysteries have been solved! It still feels like something is missing..."

"What could it be?"

(Noll trails off and goes back to his research.)

"My research is nearly complete. We should start heading back to camp."

"Have you seen the fortress to the north (470, 706)? Something seems fishy there..."

"Anthorra is over there. Go find her."

"Um... If you discover anything in that fortress tell me immediately. Got it?"

"What is it? Did you find Anthorra?"

"You must have something important to report."

You start to tell Noll about everything you found in the fortress.

"I see, it looks like my calculations were correct! The two dimensions are linked to Carso's people!"

"Wow, this is exciting! Oh, right, you were saying?"

"The Carso Disciples? The Drifters? They may have something to do with Zindel? It looks like we'll have to investigate further."

"I always get so excited when I find new things to research! I love discovering new things! It's such an amazing feeling!"

"But we have to be thorough, it's too early to tell if Zindel is part of the Disciples of Carso. We can't just jump to conclusions."

"First, go back to the camp. Let's question Zindel. Ask him a few questions and see if he has ulterior motives."

"Me? I still have tons of research to do here. There's no way I could manage anything else."

"I'll let you deal with that until it's more pressing."

"Fine, fine. I give in! I'll take a bath under ONE condition! You must bring me my special dopp kit. Sounds simple, does it? Well, unfortunately it's currently with Bolan in Ilya."

For the sake of everyone's olfactory organs, you agree to his terms.

"Are you sure you want to help? I certainly admire dedication!"

Noll seems to be warming up to you.

"I refuse to bathe without my dopp kit. One must have principles, you know!"

"I don't want to smell like just anyone!"

To each his own!

"I'll have my bath once I finish up these notes."

With a friendly wave, Noll heads off kit in hand.

"Sprite Messenger! Just in time! I was about to have my bath when I discovered a nest of spiders nearby. As a matter of principle, I refuse to bathe with an audience!"

"Would you mind removing them so that I can disrobe in peace?" Noll appears unwavering.

"The sooner you do, the sooner I can have my bath. I'll leave you to it!"

"Ahhhh! How refreshing! I finally smell like myself again!" Noll hums to himself cheerily.

Just one bath and he's a new man! Well, a cleaner one at least.

"Looks like you could use a wash yourself after taking care of those monsters! Well, seeing as you were nice enough to bring me my dopp kit, I'll lend you my soap!"

You open your mouth to thank him but are quickly forced to shut it again lest you projectile vomit.

It's that sour stench again! As you inch toward Noll it grows stronger.

Only then do you realize that it's his special soap which stinks to high heaven! So much for that bath solving the problem!

Anthorra looks about ready to keel over.

"How many magic crystals would it take to amass the amount of energy needed for time travel?" Noll pensively paces back and forth.

"Collecting the necessary data is proving to be a real challenge. All we know is that the current number isn't enough."

"Would you please defeat those spiders? We need more Supermana Magic Crystals!"

"Did you manage to gather enough?"

"We need every one of those crystals we can get our hands on. Thank you!"

Noll turns his attention back to his research.

All this work, it's never-ending.

You can't help but admire his dedication. He must have the Carso Church coming out the ears by now!

"Tsk! That can't be right! It doesn't match the data from earlier... Just what am I missing...?" Noll appears once again deeply immersed in his work.

When your greeting goes unanswered, you gently tap his shoulder.

"Oh! How long have you been standing there?! I swear you must wear cottonballs on your feet!"

Your nose wrinkles in disgust. It's bathtime for this smelly researcher!

You hand over Anthorra's homemade soap and then Noll...

...grabs his papers and leaves without a word!

Perhaps he misunderstood?

You give pursuit while begging him to take a bath. He still appears engrossed in work.

"No, no. Surely I made an error somewhere. I'll need to recalculate the data immediately..." At last, he stops.

Noll whips around in a huff. "You again? Quit following me!

As I told you before, I have absolutely no intention of washing with any soap but my own! It's my principle and I'm sticking to it!"
