Since the unfortunate event, I was able to make a few inquiries. I learned that Browney's parents have always despised me for being poor, claiming there's no money in hunting demons.

I realize now there was nothing I could have done, as they were set on driving me away from the very beginning. Perhaps they're right. How could I possibly propose to Browney? It was nothing more than a fool's dream.

I'm left now with nothing but contempt, not only for her parents but for myself for being so unworthy. Perhaps it's time I gave up on being a righteous Demon Hunter. I could really make something of myself.

As it happens, a rather rich and powerful client, panicking over his monster infestation, recently requested my services.

He appeared so eager to have the problem dealt with, it'd be all too easy for me to take advantage of his fears and demand a much greater fee. I could make a killing.
