...maybe it's time to come clean with Lulu." Colman searches his conscience for a while before speaking up again.

"I'm afraid of what might happen when I speak out, but anything is better than being a tool for Carso. I know that now."

Colman takes out an old photograph. You catch a glimpse of the back--it's covered in handwriting.

"Please give her this photograph. It explains everything.

As for me, I'll be leaving this place very soon.

I realize Carso has been using me, but how does it all fit together? What's the big picture here?

When the people of Steam Mine Mountain see me, they avoid me like the plague. Nobody here will ever tell me the truth. It's maddening!

But hey, you can't win if you don't play, right?"

"What have we here? ...oh, my!"

Lulu looks at the photograph in astonishment, then flips it over and notices the writing.

"Funny, that. I had convinced myself that it never actually happened. I only have vague memories, fleeting impressions, so I always assumed it was a dream.

Colman will always be Colman... he was my best friend once, you know. It would be nice to rekindle that friendship some day..."

Colman doesn't speak, but he looks a little more at ease now.
